DENTAL HYGIENISTS - Vermont Dental licenses expire every two years, on September 30 of odd-numbered years
ASSISTANTS - Vermont Dental licenses expire every two years, on September 30 of odd-numbered years

How Many Credits Do I Need?

DENTISTS - "A dentist must document completion of no fewer than 30 hours of Board-approved continuing professional education during the two-year licensing period preceding renewal A Dental Therapist must document completion of no fewer than 20 hours of Board-approved continuing professional education"
DENTAL HYGIENISTS - Dental hygienists must document completion of no fewer than 18 hours of Board-approved continuing professional education during the two-year licensing period preceding renewal.

What, if Any, Are The Mandatory Subjects?

DENTISTS - "CE shall include emergency office procedures Licensees with a registration number from the DEA, or who dispense controlled substances, shall complete at least two (2) hours of continuing education as a condition of license renewal, on the topics of: the abuse and diversion, safe use, and appropriate storage and disposal of controlled substances; the appropriate use of the Vermont Prescription Monitoring System; risk assessment for abuse or addiction; pharmacological and nonpharmacological alternatives to opioids for managing pain; medication tapering and cessation of the use of controlled substances; and, relevant State and federal laws and regulations concerning the prescription of opioid controlled substance"
DENTAL HYGIENISTS - All dental hygienists licensed or registered in the State of Vermont shall as a condition of every biennial license or registration renewal show evidence of having completed a course in emergency office procedures
ASSISTANTS - All dental assistants shall as a condition of every registration renewal complete a course in emergency office procedures
